Palamu is an LWE affected Aspirational district set mostly in a rural set (88% population in rural household). The government is focusing on various development indicators around Health & Nutrition, Education, Agriculture & Irrigation through the Transforming Aspirational Districts Program through better Central and State Schemes monitoring and evaluation, convergence of schemes reaching a beneficiary through the institutional framework with strong support from development partners.
While working on improving such Indicators, we found a strong correlation of these indicators with the economic status of people and to address the on- ground challenges of Left wing extremism, undernutrition/malnutrition, health and hygiene among others we engaged in piloting sustainable livelihood generation projects.
In this endeavor, we found that people usually migrate out of the district in search of jobs after getting trained under Central and State government Training Programs.
To address sustainable livelihood opportunities for people of Palamu at a place where they belong and observe its positives on social development indicators, one of our model experiments is : Industrial Sewing Machine Set up at Chainpur Block of Palamu district.
